There’s something about Brooke

When you think of romantic comedies, you picture light-hearted fun, whimsical mishaps and maybe even a whirlwind wedding. For one up and coming Gold Coast actress, it’s not just a plotline—it’s the moment her career shifted into high gear.

It’s a scene straight out of a movie: the all-new Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet with the top down, a quaint setting, and a glamourous actress behind the wheel in a perfect breezy summer dress.

Together, they’re the kind of duo that makes you stop and stare—a little bit of luxury, and a whole lot of positive attitude.

Standing beside the Cabriolet, it’s clear Brooke Lee fell for the car the moment she saw it.

“It’s a smooth, sexy car with flawless finishes,” says Brooke.

With its powerful front-end design, sleek body, and fabric acoustic soft top, the CLE Cabriolet merges the sporty elegance of the CLE Coupé with the exhilarating freedom of a cabriolet.

Equipped with a powerful 2.0-litre turbocharged engine in the CLE 300 variant, this model produces 190 kW and 400 Nm of torque.

The all-wheel drive (4MATIC) and nine-speed automatic transmission deliver a sporty performance, taking it from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 6.6 seconds.

Dynamic yet elegant, it’s a cabriolet designed for those who crave freedom with every drive.

“My favourite feature is obviously the convertible roof, but the speakers are a close second. No other brand has the perfect ‘thunk’ when you close the door quite like Mercedes,” she says.

“It really made me feel like a true movie star.”

It’s a smooth, sexy car with flawless finishes, says Brooke.

Brooke is a leading lady, one often compared to Cameron Diaz.

Starring as Evelyn in Lick, a film based on a novel by Australian author Kylie Scott, the movie is set to debut December 19 on Passionflix, a popular streaming platform known for bringing swoon-worthy novels to the screen.

As a passionate actor and devoted bookworm, Brooke immersed herself for weeks on end, preparing to bring Evelyn to life.

“I read the book and the script multiple times,” she says. “I dedicated a lot of time building and developing Evelyn’s character because I wanted to honour the source material. This is a character that fans know and love, and I aimed to do her justice. It’s a big responsibility, and I really hope I nailed it.”

Lick is the quintessential romcom: a young woman celebrating her 21st birthday in Las Vegas accidentally marries a rockstar while drunk. Of course, she wakes up a little hazy.

“It’s all a blur for Evelyn. She doesn’t realise she’s married to a rockstar until paparazzi start swarming her,” she says.

The role of Evelyn marks Brooke’s first major lead, but you might recognise her from Mako Mermaids, where she played a supporting lead for three seasons.

“I’ve done little bits here and there, but this was the first time it was my movie,” says Brooke. “I was in 102 out of 104 scenes, which was a marathon. Acting has always been my first love, and I wish there was something else that made me happier because it’s a hard industry, but I love being on set and acting.”

I’m hoping that this role will give me a bit of a platform to do more in this space.

Securing a role is no easy feat; it often involves auditions, callbacks, chemistry tests and a host of other hurdles. So, when Brooke landed the lead in Lick, it was a moment of disbelief.

“It felt too good to be true and part of me was thinking that it felt too easy,” she says. “I sent off my audition and within three hours I had an offer in my agent’s inbox, which is wild.”

The vote was unanimous—the director and the author were on board, and fans online have also dubbed Brooke the perfect Evelyn.

“I guess I was right for the role and I’m hoping that once it’s released, it’s going to give me a bit of a platform to get a few more of these romcom roles,” she says.

Brooke’s ambitions don’t end with fronting the camera and turning on the comedy and charm. Alongside her acting career, she’s penning a few romcoms of her own.

“I adore the romantic comedy genre. It’s so much fun to play with those characters and go to set and be happy; it leaves you with a really warm feeling,” she says.

“I’m hoping that this role will give me a bit of a platform to do more in this space.

“I am writing a few of my own, I won’t say where or who with, but there are a few things that I hope will be picked up in the New Year and hopefully there will be a few more romcoms on the way.”

When it comes to choosing roles, Brooke has a clear vision of the characters she’s drawn to: strong, independent women who own their stories.

“I always look for something where the female character is in control of her own life,” she says. “Maybe some things happen along the way, but ultimately no one is pushing her into things. She’s making her own decisions and stands on her own two feet.”
