Saying the word is not so ludicrous

What would you do if anything you said instantly became reality? In Mercedes-Benz’s playful commercial for the 2019 A-Class, we get a glimpse into that fantasy. And who better to add a little flair to this scenario that rapper Ludacris himself?

After sitting out the 2018 Super Bowl, Mercedes-Benz returned the following year in style with a big game commercial that went all out, featuring cameos from Ludacris to Wile E. Coyote.

But things really shift into high gear when our hero finds himself stuck on a snooze-worthy date. Bored, he decides to shake things up and suddenly Ludacris bursts into a performance of “Stand Up” with the line ‘when I move, you move’ kicking off an impromptu concert.

The commercial’s star hops into his sleek ride, and with a simple command—play my music—Ludacris’s track pumps through the car’s speakers as he drives off. It’s a fun way to highlight how the A-Class puts you in control, letting you change up everything from music to interior lighting with just your voice.

Imagine a world where anything you say instantly happens—no magic wands or superpowers required. Following the brand’s “Say the Word” slogan, this commercial shows off the A-Class’s voice-command features in the most over-the-top and hilarious of ways. We follow an ordinary guy who suddenly finds himself with the power to make anything happen, just by speaking it into existence.

He tells the traffic lights to change colour—they do. He watches professional golfer Rickie Fowler sink a perfect putt—because he said so. Parking tickets aren’t an issue and ATMs start raining money. This guy is living the dream.
