From mouth-watering pastas to savory meat dishes, Tommy’s Italian has a menu
bursting with authenticity and fresh ingredients that not only brings a true slice of
Italy to your plate but offers a fun and exciting twist.
Located in the thriving heart of Currumbin’s beach front, Tommy’s Italian offers a unique twist on classic Italian cuisine, with a focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients and a playful, shareable menu that’s perfect for any occasion.
But what sets Tommy’s apart isn’t just the food – it’s the coastal and approachable vibe that permeates every aspect of the restaurant.
Co-owned by two industry enthusiasts, Tom Torchut and his business partner Ronnie Tarabay, Tommy’s Italian is a little gem and the kind of place that makes you feel right at home, whether you’re wandering in after a stroll along Currumbin Beach, or settling in for a long, lazy lunch with friends.
“We wanted to create an Italian place in a premium location where people can come for a long or late lunch with friends and family,” says Tom.
“Young couples can come along and enjoy a beer with pizza, or you can host a business luncheon and order a steak and a glass of wine – you can come here for any occasion.”
With a menu that’s built around sharing, Tommy’s offers a unique dining experience that’s all about creating a sense of connection and community.
From antipasti spreads, which allow diners to build their own selection of cheeses, salamis, and other beautiful small plates, to the homemade pastas and woodfired pizzas; there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Tommy’s Italian has transformed the Currumbin beachfront into a dining destination, attracting diners for its incredible food, great vibes, and professional yet approachable service.
“People usually come in dressed up and feeling good, I think it’s helped add a new dimension to the beachfront,” says Tom.
“Opening Tommy’s has been more than just about food and drink; it was also about creating a destination and offering something different and exciting to the local community.”
Using fresh and local ingredients, the menu is filled with classic and contemporary Italian dishes.
You can order a beautiful slice of lasagne or woodfired pizza, but you can also enjoy a Paccheri ragu with 9+ Wagyu or a Risotto mascarpone with radicchio and vincotto.
“We make an effort to create some fun and different options that are not as well-known as the traditional Italian menu items,” says Tom.
“To add a twist on a surf and turf dish, we’ve got a wagyu steak on the menu that’s about 300g served with local pippies and drizzled with homemade tarragon butter; it’s divine.
“We try to get everything locally and work with good suppliers to source what is best and fresh but otherwise, we try and use as much local and seasonal produce as we can.”
The drinks menu is equally impressive, whether it’s a classic Tommy’s Margarita made with 100% agave cazadores and fresh lime or one of their 20 signature cocktails, each drink is expertly crafted and served with love.
“We make everything from scratch and there’s a significant difference when you make a Margarita with fresh lime juice,” he says.
The wine list is carefully curated, with a focus on Italian varietals and local Australian producers and for those who prefer a beer or spirit, there are plenty of options available.
Whether you’re in the mood for a cocktail, a hearty pasta dish, or a cooked to perfection pizza, Tommy’s Italian is the perfect place to unwind, relax and enjoy a modern take on Italian food in a truly unforgettable beachside setting.
