Mercedes-Benz Gold Coast’s very own Leroy Dunne takes a drive to Main Beach in the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+, which might have rolled soundlessly onto the showroom floor, but is making a lot of noise among brand enthusiasts.

As sunset settles on The Spit, our Driver, Mercedes-Benz Gold Coast General Manager Leroy Dunne is enjoying the impressive performance that is the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+.

“It’s a thrilling experience and until you sit in it and drive it, you can’t really appreciate it,” says Leroy.

With its sleek lines, AMG-specific radiator grille, spoiler lip and ambient lighting, the EQS looks as though it was beamed out of a utopian dimension from the future.

“It’s very exciting to drive a car that weighs over two and a half tonnes, has no emissions and achieves zero to 100 kilometres in 3.8 seconds,” says Leroy.

The latest electric vehicle to Mercedes-Benz and a true AMG, the EQS offers an impressive range of 580 kilometres and a sports mode enabling the car to generate the purrs and roars of an AMG through the speakers.

Backed by the epitome of the Gold Coast’s lifestyle – the Broadwater featuring sailing boats and the stunning colours of sundown, Leroy’s love for the Mercedes-Benz brand shows as he’s propelled along by the EQS’s 484 kW of power and 950 Nm of torque.

“Mercedes-Benz is all about style, simplicity, powerful engines and performance,” says Leroy.

“The brand stays true to some of their classic and ageless features but embraces technology with innovative ease.

“The EQS is a smooth and luxurious ride and it’s incredible that a 19-minute charging session will get you over 300 kilometres of driving range.”

Modelled after the S-Class, the biggest sedan in the Mercedes-Benz range, the EQS is the largest and first all-electric vehicle the brand currently has.

“It’s an amazing feat – so fast, so smooth and so quiet,” Leroy says.

“This is only the start and there are many more electric cars on the way, so watch this space.”

Powered by phenomenal technology and engineering, the EQS has attracted a high level of attention among brand enthusiasts and its arrival has sparked interest as to what other ranges will offer in the future.

“I don’t think you can get a sense of how much technology is in the car and how good it is, until you’re behind the wheel,” he says.

“The feeling of the dashboard and the technology at your fingertips is a thrilling and game-changing experience.

“If you enjoy technology, you can’t help but be drawn to the EQS, as it offers a glimpse of what we’ll see in the other models and it’s really paving the way for what the future of the Mercedes-Benz range will look like.

Ideal for someone who’s after luxury and refinement but is also environmentally conscious of their carbon footprint, if you’ve got your sights set on the EQS, visit the Mercedes-Benz Gold Coast dealership to set up an appointment.
